In 1990, the film Pretty Woman, starring Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Jason Alexander, and a whole host of talented actors and actresses. It instantly became a classic film with iconic status. The song “Oh, Pretty Woman“ by Roy Orbison, originally released in 1964, was once again all across America.
Thanks to Pretty Woman, Boulmiche, the legendary Beverly Hills women’s fashion boutique, became embedded in American’s cinematic memory in the famous “snubbing scene” filmed inside the store itself where Vivian Ward (played by Julia Roberts) was snubbed by haughty salespeople.
The “snubbing scene” was then followed by the classic, fairy tale-like turn, with those immortal words “Big Mistake, Huge”!
Julia Roberts would go on to repeat that immortal phrase as her character Army Captain Kate Hazeltine rides past Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, in her 2010 movie Valentine’s Day, which also featured an immensely talented all-star cast including Jessica Alba, Jamie Foxx, Patrick Dempsey, Anne Hathaway, Ashton Kutcher, Queen Latifah, Taylor Lautner, Jessica Biel, Bradley Cooper, Eric Dane, Kathy Bates, Taylor Swift, Jessica Alba, Topher Grace, George Lopez, Shirley MacLaine, and Hector Elizondo (who was also one of our favorites in Pretty Woman!).
Boulmiche, located at 321 N Beverly Drive, Beverly Hills, CA 90210 (between Dayton Way and Brighton Way) (click for map), is proud to have the nicest and most knowledgeable sales people in fashion for over 40 years.
